Mission: From Impossible to operational

Garmin partnered with The Getaway to create a cinematic launch campaign for the D2 Mach 2, their most advanced aviator smartwatch. The objective was to showcase the watch not as a standalone piece of tech, but as an essential companion across the full aviation lifestyle - from preflight and cockpit decision-making to off-grid adventure and fitness beyond the aircraft.

The campaign was designed to combine both film and photo assets in specific locations, with specific aircraft, to showcase the watch’s advanced features in real world back-country and commercial scenarios.

THE RESULT: All the right stuff.

The Getaway’s embedded position in aviation and commercial filmmaking made it possible to deliver exactly what the brief demanded, no substitutions. From a Carbon Cub FX-3 on amphibs to a Caravan and Cessna 172, all outfitted with Garmin avionics, we flew to  backcountry locations with working commercial pilots on camera.  Every element was real, operational, and intentional.

This wasn’t aviation-inspired production - it was aviation, executed with cinematic discipline.
